Ilu Leto, a band of six female sape players from Sarawak, Borneo, is paving the road for innovation in the Borneo music world. “Ilu Leto” means “we, the ladies” in the language of the Kenyah people. The band members, Alena Murang, Elizabeth Bungan Peter, Munirih Jebeni, Rosemary Colony Anak Joel Dunstan, Nurul Syafiqah (Iqa), and Tasneem Bolhassan, who are natives of the island, are dedicated to exploring and sharing the musical traditions of their land while combining the songs, dance and music of the Kenyah, Kelabit and Iban tribes.
