KONKONBA TAIWAN formed in 2008. In one of the West African languages, “konkonba” means “nature.” The group is comprised of two adults and five children. Most of the songs they perform are from Guinea and West Africa. Djembe and Dundun are mostly in charge of the group’s organization. Over the years, KONKONBA has learned about traditional West African culture from a number of masters, including Mamady Keita, Famoudou Konate, Bolokada Conde, Cece Koly Camara, Bebey Aissata Youla, Mohamed Bangoura, Babara Bangoura, Epizo Bangoura and Ladji Kante. In 2012, the debut album KONKONBA, which was nominated for Best Album Packaging in the Traditional Arts and Music category at the 24th Golden Melody Awards. KONKONBA’s performances make the audience feel as though they are really in Africa.
