10/20 (Sat.) 19:45 Sisay│Ecuador│Enchanting contemporary music of the Inca
SISAY (which means “blossoming,” in the group’s native language, Quechua), is an indigenous South American ensemble from Ecuador with its members hailing from Native American and Imbayas Nation ancestry. Performing traditional and contemporary Andean music at its finest, their mission is to deliver harmony and balance to listeners so that people may obtain wisdom to connect with Mother Earth.
SISAY was first formed by the current members’ parents in 1983. After being honored at many musical venues in their homeland, the founders let the next generation take on the responsibly of sharing their musical heritage. Their remarkable performance skill and musical concepts were quickly and widely welcomed in Japan and Korea. They have also reaped success in their homeland, being awarded the best traditional and best contemporary music honors in 2005 and 2006. SISAY continues sharing their outstanding music by means of performances around the world, and they are now considered the main representatives of Ecuadorian and Andean music in Asia.
